Our measurements (i.e. 12ft. x 20ft.) are taken from the outside of the wall framing; therefore, they don't include the siding, and/or sheathing.
For true exterior dimensions, add the siding, sheathing (if applicable), and corner trim pieces. The Canexel siding is 3/8" thick, the cedar siding is 3/4" thick and the log siding is 1 1/2" thick. The wall sheathing varies from 7/16” to 3/4”. The corner trim is 3/4".

Alpine prefab garages are built with gable roofs, featuring a continuous ridge with two sides sloping from the center toward the walls. This roof design makes it ideal for those looking for extra headroom to add a loft studio for extra storage or living space.
Gable roofs are much easier to frame, sheath, and finish, giving the vertical wall component of a gable roof its style, known as “gable ends”.
Ventilation is easy to install. Due to its geometry and access to gable ends, roof vents can be placed on the gable ends rather than the roof itself. Consult with your contractor or roofing company, for the most effective ventilation system for your roof.
Soffits are the cedar trim pieces that are attached to the underside of the rafter ends.
Fascia is typically the cedar 1x4 that’s used to cover the rafter tips and provide a nice straight level line for the bottom of your roof.
It is important to house your Alpine garage walls on a solid concrete foundation. Shown below are two types of concrete foundation that can be poured for your garage. One has a raised which is recommended for uneven surfaces.
Visit Foundations page for detail.
Summerwood prefabricated garages are engineered to last a lifetime. No cutting corners here, we use the best materials we can purchase, chosen for their aesthetic appeal, durability, and environmental acceptance. All of our buildings are designed with style and longevity in mind.

Included with all of our prefabricated garage styles is our "enhanced siding package" – ESP. This provides great protection from the elements and ensures that your building will be code compliant. It consists of a layer of OSB sheathing and Typar or Home Slicker house wrap, providing a moisture barrier to the elements.
The Alpine garage roof features a 12” overhang where the roof meets the walls. The overhang is trimmed out with a soffit and fascia board. Extra overhang is offered in increments of 6” [i.e. +6 (18”), +12 (24”)].
Once your Alpine cedar garage building is completed, there are a few things you can do on the inside to add to the comfort and enjoyment of your new Summerwood design.
Please see Interior Finishing under Advice for more information
If you plan to heat your garage, insulation may be added either at purchase or after-the-fact if you decide to do it later. The walls and roof are constructed in such a way that adding insulation either as an option or on your own is quite simple to do.
The inside of our garage styles are left exposed to easily accommodate wiring for lighting, outlets, garage door openers, car chargers, power tools, whatever you have in mind. Once the installation is complete, simply have an electrician come and do his thing.
Provided you have a water source nearby, your garage pipes can be run for sinks and taps. If you have something a little more elaborate in mind like a shower or toilet, best to make sure it is coordinated with the concrete pad and installation of the garage.
