You've decided on the Summerwood design that's just right for you and your family and you're ready to place your order. This section describes how to order your Summerwood building and what you can expect from us between the time of order and delivery. Our goal is to make your experience with Summerwood as comfortable as possible at every step of the way.

Placing an Order

While it's very simple to place your order online, we would also be pleased to help you by phone as well. Just call us and one of our courteous design professionals will walk you through it, providing helpful guidance and suggestions along the way. Our designers have a wealth of experience that will make you feel like you are in very good hands.

If you have placed your order online, one of our design professionals will contact you promptly to review your order and make sure that you haven't overlooked anything. Like you, we want to make sure that everything is just right.

Deposit & Payment

A 50% deposit, with $3,000 paid by credit card, is required at the time of order, with the balance of the deposit being paid by cheque. The remaining balance of the order is due prior to shipping. For your convenience, we accept payment by cheque, Visa, or Mastercard. If timing is tight, we will also provide you with the details you need to make a wire transfer. Our sales & design experts will walk you through every step of the way.

Turnaround Time

Generally, the turnaround is about 6 to 8 weeks from the point of sale to shipping, however this will fluctuate with seasonal ebbs and flows. It also may depend on drawings and permits (if applicable) and the lead-time of items that we don't manufacture in our plant (metal doors and windows).

Once the details of your order have been confirmed, we will provide you with a "week of" production date and secure your position in our manufacturing queue. Although we are usually quite accurate, please appreciate that this is an estimate only and our priority is always to produce a flawless product that we can be proud of.

Your sales person will always provide a very clear picture of what you should expect at the time of order.

Updates on your Order

As your production date approaches, we will contact you with an update on your order and provide you with some important information that will help the shipping and assembly of your Summerwood building go smoothly.
The week prior to production we will be in touch once again with some specifics regarding freight and processing of the final payment.

Changing an Order

We want to make sure you get exactly what you want. If you'd like to change your order for any reason - i.e. move a window or change your siding colour - you may make one change free of charge, providing it is within three days of placing your order. Past this timeframe there is a fee of $100. Please note that order changes may not exceed 10% of an order’s original value.

Please also be advised that changes may not be possible once your building is in the "production planning" stage. We encourage you to make your selections carefully so that you are comfortable with your purchase decision. Please lean on our design pros to help at every step of the way.
Whether you purchase online or over the phone, we will send an "order clarification" for your review to make sure that we have captured all of the details of your order correctly.


The beauty of Summerwood is that each building is custom built to your exact specifications. As such, please appreciate that we cannot allow cancellations or refunds once an order has been placed. We will provide the necessary support along the way to ensure that your Summerwood experience is a delight.


At times our customers may want to take advantage of a sale or secure their place in our production queue. However, they may also be unsure as to whether they require a building permit or not. No worries, talk to your sales person and we will make sure that we structure the order such that you are comfortable and that there is no risk to you!

Reimbursement for Out of Pocket Expenses

Although our service hours are very generous, there may be times when you are in a jam and you want to keep moving. Should you encounter a snag during our off hours, we will reimburse you without prior approval for up to $100 in material expenses to fix our mistake. Simply provide us with a brief explanation and a copy of your purchase receipt and we will reimburse you promptly.

Warranty Details

We aim to exceed your expectations at every step of the way. Rest assured that all Summerwood buildings are covered for a minimum of two years for defects in building materials and workmanship.
