Give this stage some serious thought. What part of the day is important to
you, watching the sun come up from your deck or watching the sun set? The
compass positioning of your structure can make all the difference. How much
privacy would you like and to what parts of your cabin? What about your guests?
Will you need parking? Thinking along these lines will help select the optimal
location for your cabin. For more tips and ideas, our Cabin
Foundations can take a load of your mind.
Unless it's a small Bunkie you're building - cabins are
typically larger than 110sq ft, so you're likely going to need a building
permit. Don't skip this step as Inspectors can be very unforgiving. And zoning
bylaws vary from jurisdiction, to municipality, to state. This library of
regional Government listings may contain the contact details of your
local permit
office. Learn other important details about zoning and permits.
