interior finishings

Once your Summerwood building is complete, the sky's the limit in terms of what you can do with the inside. Whether you plan to use your building as a home studio, poolside cabana, or weekend cabin, you will want to give plenty of consideration on how to finish the side.

Insulation

Enjoy your Summerwood building in any season and remain comfortable by controlling the interior environment with an efficient building envelope. We offer 3 ½” (R14) and 5 ½” (R22) Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Insulation to fit within the floor, wall, and ceiling cavities. Insulation should be partnered with building wrap, offered in our enhanced siding packages (ESP), as well as a polyethylene.

Electrical Considerations

The inside of our buildings is deliberately left exposed to accommodate various electrical applications.

Whether you intend to add a simple light fixture to the inside or rough-out the electrical support for a home office, we provide the flexibility for you to choose the most suitable option. The interior may also be finished and wired to allow for a fully equipped sauna in most of our buildings. You may also wire the exterior for various lighting effects. Main electrical connections are generally buried in the ground or passed through the air via suspended power lines.

Contact an experienced professional to prepare your main connection, interior wiring, and any other electrical needs. If you have a specific electrical requirement you wish to accommodate, please inform your design expert of this prior to ordering and we can provide stud layouts or customize the wall framing to allow for easy installation.

Plumbing Considerations

It’s easy to finish your interior to accommodate showers, bathrooms, bar sinks, or even a full on kitchen.

Similar to main electrical feeds, let your Design Specialist know where you plan to install your plumbing main. We can provide stud layouts or customize the wall framing to allow for easy installation. Be sure to plan you installation so that all the steps are done in the right order. You don’t want to close up a wall only to discover that you want to run wiring or plumbing.

Material Finishing and Upgrades

Many people choose to “spruce” up their interior by upgrading their framing from spruce to cedar or by finishing the inside with cedar wall and roof boards (or any other wood species). Various flooring options are also available.
