One of the most important topics we like to bring to your attention is building permits. Anything over 110 Square feet will likely require a building permit. While our gazebo plans provide CAD drawings the may be used for the permit process, it's likely that you'll require more detailed drawings to submit with your permit application. The permit office wants to see where your gazebo is located in relation to your property lines, as well as wanting to see where doors and windows will be located if you've selected an enclosed gazebo plan. You have a couple options here - we can create permit drawings (additional fees apply), or you can take our plan drawings to a local architect and they can create the drawings for you. We just want you to be aware that in most cases the standard plan drawings will not be sufficient for obtaining a permit. Give your local municipality a call and see what they require before you purchase as our plans are not refundable.
What you do with your landscaping largely depends on what the focal point is on your property, and how you'll be using your gazebo. What's the existing landscape of your property? Do you have a large garden, a pool; perhaps you have a water effect? Do you want to make the gazebo center stage, or tuck it into the corner so it blends in with the surrounding landscape? What about lighting? Do you intend on installing landscaping lights to create an interesting and functional lighting situation for night? Again, depending on the intended usage of your gazebo, and the existing landscape conditions you may even want to bring in the help of a professional landscape designer. They can create several options for you to choose - complete with what types of plants and flowers to use.
One of the great things about building plans is that it leaves the option of what materials you use to construct it, up to you. While we recommend a high quality cedar wood - there are many other excellent materials on the market that would be suitable for your gazebo.

One the latest building trends is the use of environmentally friendly building materials (green building materials). Don't immediately think that just because you're using wood that it's not environmentally friendly. All most all of today's wooden building materials use sustainable practices in production.
