There are many important things to think about
before you decide on the location of your garage. How far from the road or your
house do you want to be? Will you pave the way to the road?
With garages, using a concrete foundation is always a good idea. If you deal
with cold winters, you might want to consider installing radiant floor heating
at this point. And with all garages, making sure the floor has a slight pitch to
encourage easy drainage is also important. Maximize value by laying the
foundation at the same time you're creating access to the road. Here are some
other ideas for garage foundations.
A new structure that is greater than 110 sq. ft. demands a permit in most areas. It's better to be safe than sorry, so check with your local office, which may be here in our library of regional
permit offices.
See here for more information about zoning and permits.
Even if you're not incredibly handy, you can probably build

If you're not confident about doing it yourself, or just don't have the time,
you'd do far better to consider a Summerwood garage kit. You can choose to build the garage kit yourself or
have a contractor assemble it for you, either way; you cut out the architectural design costs. Your contractor will be able to produce a quote for you almost
instantly after looking at the detailed labor estimate provided with our building kits. Browse the
